138th Fighter Wing Firefighters Support Tulsa Wildfires
On March 16, 2018 at approximately 6:00 pm, Tulsa Air National Guard Fire Department, 138th Fighter Wing units 67 and 68 received a mutual aid request from the Tulsa Fire Department in regards to a major wildfire. The first objective under assignment to the Tulsa Area Firefighter’s Mutual Aid (TAFMA) Task Force 1, was to dig control lines north approximately 5 miles south of the Osage Casino in Sand Springs and meet up with lines dug by the Cherokee Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), Montana BIA, and North Carolina BIA. The second objective for Task Force 1, provide quick response to fires threatening homes and cross roads. The Air Guard units contributed various hand tools and blowers on scene for approximately 9 hours until wildfires remained in control
