SMSgt Shannon Woods receives UCA of the Year Awards

U.S. Air National Guard Senior Master Sgt. Shannon Woods displays her Unit Career Advisor of the Year awards, Sep. 20, 2016, after receiving them at the 138th Fighter Wing Operations Briefing Room. Unit Career Advisors play a big role in developing new airmen and assisting them on their path to a successful career in the Air National Guard. The award depicting the U.S. Air Force Memorial is a national award. SMSgt Woods is the first person in Oklahoma to win the award. Woods is also pictured with her awards for 2015 Unit Career Advisor of the Year, Region III, 2015 Unit Career Advisor for the state of Oklahoma and 2014 Unit Career Advisor for the state of Oklahoma. Woods was appointed a UCA in April 2014. It is a tremendous honor to be recognized at the Regional and National level. I really enjoy being a Unit Career Advisor. I convey my knowledge of educational benefits and career experience during the interview process to assist members in achieving their goals says Woods. Unit Career Advisors aid commanders and recruiting in their retention efforts. I highly recommend and encourage others to volunteer to be Unit Career Advisors.
